Charles Bowe grew up outside of Trenton, New Jersey, an ardent fan of local luminaries Mike Schmidt, Dr. J, Springsteen, Jim Florio, and Uncle Floyd. During a ten-year exile in Minnesota, he worked as a mental health counselor and listened to so much indie rock he now says “What?” more than a man his age should. A part-time job writing film reviews for a weekly paper led to screenwriting and eventually directing.

Charlie’s credits include music videos for Grant Hart, formerly of Hüsker Dü, and Stan Ridgway of Wall of Voodoo. “New World Symphony,” his first feature-length film as writer-director, premiered at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival in 2004, where it received highest ratings in audience polls. His commercial resume includes writing and producing promotional videos for the Sprint PCS website at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, for which he was honored with a Reggie Award for Best New Media. He is currently producing two documentaries and is developing more features. He has a BA in history and classics from Rutgers University. He and his wife Aimee live in Brooklyn, NY.
